Bilstein Product Spotlight - Air Springs

Since 1954, BILSTEIN’s engineers have worked side-by-side with those from Mercedes-Benz to make revolutionary strides in damper technology that left a lasting impact on the entire industry. BILSTEIN’s first major feat, inventing the monotube damper, was quite the entrance to the market. Fifty years later, BILSTEIN and Mercedes-Benz again set the tone for the industry through the joint development and subsequent introduction of Airmatic on the W220 S-Class in 2000. BILSTEIN’s continuing innovation ensures that we always stay WAY AHEAD.

BILSTEIN only selects the most premium suppliers for components and utilizes the most advanced machinery and tooling, and for good reason. If it were not for BILSTEIN’s 150-years of unrelenting quality and expertise, BILSTEIN would not be the suspension supplier of choice for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen Group, and others.

Competitors often attempt to lower costs by trying to replicate our designs with cheaper materials and remanufactured parts. We believe that this causes them to be significantly less durable and inadequate for use on customer vehicles.
